6th International School of Conservation Biology

6th International School of Conservation Biology (iSCB), Rovinj, Croatia, 23 June - 1 July 2010: last call for registration
Registration deadline for the 6th International School of Conservation Biology (iSCB), which is organized jointly by the European Section of the Society for Conservation Biology, Croatian Biological Society and Center for Marine Research, "Rudjer Boskovic" Institute, expires in a few days (1st February). We encourage graduate and post-graduate students interested in the field of Conservation Biology to apply for iSCB 2010, which will be held in Rovinj, Croatia, from 23 June - 1 July. What is iSCB?
iSCB is an intensive 9-days graduate course directed at MSc and PhD students from European and Mediterranean countries who already have basic training in biology/ecology and other related subjects. The School primary focuses on quantitative methods in conservation biology, and it is taught in English. It includes lectures, discussions and problem solving exercises, computer labs, group projects, evening lectures given by invited speakers, and a two day field course to the islands of Cres and Losinj. With completion of the School students receive a certificate and 7 ECTS credits towards their university degree.

iSCB instructors:
Our team of instructors includes international lecturers and guest speakers from Europe and USA, lead by Assoc. Prof. Selina Heppell, PhD (Department of Fisheries and Wildlife, Oregon State University, and adjunct faculty at Nicholas School of the Environment, Duke University, USA). They will present the latest trends, case studies and state of the art knowledge in this young and fast developing scientific discipline.

Due to restrictions in the number of participants (max. 20), applicants are selected on a competitive basis.

Acceptance notification:  15 February 2010
Tuition payment deadline:  1 April 2010
Tuition fee:  350 Euros (please note that student  grants and subsidies are available - check at iSCB web page)
